C-Quence Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Lineage
Many students and potential students find it important to know the instructor’s Brazilian Jiu-jitsu (BJJ) lineage. There are several reasons why this is relevant.
Consider that Brazilian Jiu-jitsu is still fairly new in America (approximately 17 years old). Even though there are some historical accounts of Brazilian Jiu-jitsu being demonstrated and taught to Americans dating back to the early 1900’s, for the most part the masses did not know about or practice Brazilian Jiu-jitsu until the 1990’s.
In addition, Brazilian Jiu-jitsu is well known for its demand for commitment and dedication. It usually takes an average student 1 to 1 ½ years to go from a beginner white belt to their 2nd rank of blue belt. It is not uncommon for a Brazilian Jiu-jitsu instructor to have been training over 10 years before achieving the rank of black belt. After achieving a black belt each of your first 3 degrees are separated by 3 years minimum and then your 4th degree takes 5 years….so belt ranks are not easy or fast to obtain.
Lastly, the popularity, combat effectiveness and potential for profits have fueled the high demand for Brazilian Jiu-jitsu by both the student and school owners. Simply put, there are not enough qualified BJJ instructors to meet the demand. So consequently, the potential of fraud by individuals with exaggerated claims of qualifications and training are a real problem.
Due to these reasons it is important for the instructor to disclose their Brazilian Jiu-jitsu lineage. Here, we are proud to present ours:
